There are several reasons to why I have always wanted to be a teacher. The main reasons being that when I was in middle school I had amazing teachers that I will never forget about and the impact that they had on me, changed my life forever. I had such strong and powerful women as teachers and I aspire to be just like them. While reading the article "Living, Loving, and Leading in the Wild and Dazzling Middle Grades" there were a few statements that gave me that "Ah-Hah" moment and helped to clarify my decision to be a teacher. One of the major statements that stuck out to me was on page three. It said "without these teachers, I would not even be trying". She was talking about how she was writing this and trying to inspire people like me. When I read that, I remembered how much my teachers loved and inspired me and there is no way I would be where I am without them. Another thing that stuck out to me was when the article asked me a question. The question was: how will I live, love, and lead. This really got me thinking. I have known that I wanted to be a teacher since I was in middle school and this made me think about why. I can not wait to have a lasting impact on so many kids. I am so excited to get to know and love and grow close to an age group that is going through so much change and I am prepared to be there for them through all of it and be one of their biggest supporters. The final statement that really made me stop and take a minute was when the article said "Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life". I actually wrote this down on a piece of paper and set it on my desk so I would think about it often. I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else but teaching when I graduate. I want to live my life to the fullest and I want to help children to reach their full potential so that they can also figure out how they want to spend their one precious life.
